چکیده

We study the elastodynamics of a periodic metastructure incorporating defect pair that enforces parity-time (PT) symmetry due to judiciously engineered imaginary impedance elements - one having energy amplification (gain) and other an equivalent attenuation (loss) mechanism. show their presence affects initial band structure Hermitian leads formation numerous exceptional points (EPs) which are mainly located at edges where local density modes is higher. The spatial location PT-symmetric serves as additional control over number emerging EPs in corresponding spectra well critical non-Hermitian (gain/loss) strength required create first EP specific minimizes strength. use both finite element coupled-mode-theory-based models investigate these metastructures, time-independent second-order perturbation theory further demonstrate influence size on minimum band. Our findings motivate feasible designs for experimental realization elastodynamic metastructures.

Stability Analysis of Fixed points in a Parity-time symmetric coupler with Kerr nonlinearity

We report our study on nonlinear parity-time (PT) symmetric coupler from a dynamical perspective. In the linear regime, the differential equations governing the dynamics of the coupler, under some parametric changes, can be solved exactly. But with the inclusion of nonlinearity, analytical solution of the system is a rather complicated job. And the sensitiveness of the system on the initial con...

Quantum Squeezed Light Propagation in an Optical Parity-Time (PT)-Symmetric Structure

We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...

Locally Parity-Time Symmetric and globally Parity-Symmetric systems

We introduce a new class of systems holding Parity Time (PT)-symmetry locally whereas being globally Psymmetric. The potential is globally symmetric, U=U(|r|), and fulfills PT-symmetry with respect to periodically distributed points r0: U(|r0+r|)=U*(|r0-r|) being r0∫ 0. We show that such systems hold novel properties arising from the merging of the two different symmetries, leading to a strong ...

Parity-time-symmetric coupled microring lasers operating around an exceptional point.

The behavior of a parity-time-symmetric coupled microring system is studied when operating in the vicinity of an exceptional point. Using the abrupt phase transition around this point, stable single-mode lasing is demonstrated in spectrally multimoded microring arrangements.

Thin and Thermally Stable Periodic Metastructures

We design, fabricate, and test thin thermally stable metastructures consisting of bi-metallic unit cells and show how the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of these metastructures can be finely and coarsely tuned by varying the CTE of the constituent materials and the unit cell geometry. Planar and threedimensional finite element method modeling (FEM) is used to drive our design and inform...
